re: collaboration

some of these questions will be formal ones...right? but are those questions going to be the most interesting ones to ask during this process?

some of the questions that i anticipate we'll discuss tonight are the following:

--how do we avoid what the wise Jill Magi calls "the messy ethics of doing a project that's "outside" the immediate community--that self-other split"?

--what knowledge does this poem produce?

--how does this poem bring in its subject, the community, the environment, the natural world, the created world?

--how do we avoid making the poem into ourselves? is this even possible?

--how do we make sure we are not afraid to write the ugly thing? the brave thing? the true thing?

--how does collaboration risk censorship of the individuals involved? how can it prevent it?

--how and what does your poem risk?
