We collected words from several sources ( mostly interviews) and then spliced them up and taped them to construction paper.

  1. And here's the poem....

Sunsets over mountains, on people, on buildings
I see it hangs its limbs meekly and dances in light breezes.
“Let this air blow at me.” The first time was on a Grey Hound out of L.A. dustiness everywhere on cars.
“Give me a turn with the sidewalk chalk, so I can tell a tale,” all in two languages “If we’re too loud let us know.”
I actually had a story the other day
Sun… Sunny relaxed folks, pretty women, Mesilla, sunny. My answers may not be extravagant.
I saw each items path clearly but cannot retrace the steps.
(Stares at his glass of beer) Story?
“I don’t want to repeat myself, and I’m sure you don’t want to hear it again.”
I had never seen desert just White sands and that ain’t desert.
I tripped acid for three days with Danny Moran and I thought he was going to take us to Juarez and kill us.
They were both drunk. The Bean and High desert. Such debauchery,
“why do you want to be boring.” On Thursday at 11pm I yelled at the neighbors, there’s just nothing.
He pretended to bite, which I like cause then I learn Spanish.
Did I mention that he had on an Olivia Newton John headband?
It seems like a family and I don’t have family out here.
Three crosses, desert… hot hot desert. Shitty football team, Mesquite trees and Organ mountains.
Going to the river, drinking a 6-pack, and half a bottle of Johnny Walker and somehow making it home.
“The problem with you is that you deal in facts.” Peel it open for me.
I said, “I’m a graduate student.” He said, “What you don’t think that I am?”
He did a matrix move back and then I threatened him, not the craziest but most recent.
No money to get away. “You have to find my earring! I need to look like a princess Not a Pirate!”
Roaming around. I stopped at a light. Chile is good.
“Good-bye butterfly, I do not think I shall see you again.” You go to HD I go to HD I know every SOB in there.

  2. This process that our group did was super fun and opening. We were able to get out of the framework of individual ownership of the piece and jointly work it to metamorphize--asking each other--what do you think of this, making changes, and getting excited when very different quotes synched well.
