Group Wildcat Jethro Tull

A Costly Quest for the Dark Heart of the Cosmos

We watched history being made that day.

there was a sense of expectation in the air.

he’d go today if the ship was ready.

“I promised to build the first. And here we are.”

writing a new chapter to build the world’s first.

it was déjà vu all over again.

The Indians used to call the falls, ‘the place of tumbling moonlight’

a little jealous, his gaze wandered out

plump face paled in the early light.

Nearly 50 years later, I watched history being made again

  1. Really good! I think this piece really captures the downtown mall. I grew up down there (not living on the streets) my dad was the pastor of the church which is now another church...Anyway I spent a huge chunk of my waking childhood hangin out in the downtown mall and I think this is great. Good use of found stuff and great connectivity!

  2. When I strolled on multiple occasions looking for text, I went with expectations of finding something on the ground, tossed away or dropped: maybe wrappers or notes or a memo from some random business. But surprising, and with all the construction, the area was spartan as far as detritus goes. But the "trash" that usually finds itself blowing down the lane, is more regimented and resides in dispensers in every business entrance: Mini news tomes like "Southwest Senior" and "Grassroots Press" saddled next to any number of flyers for masseuses and or lawyers. What ever you need, it is absolutely, without a doubt been bought, paid for and advertised in every business in the downtown mall. That and pages from tossed books expelled from COAS were my folly of text. Although I was familiar with the downtown mall, I think this closer inspection opened my eyes to the fact that, however old and or unused, it still has some dignity in it's appearance, and even a faint remnant of charm still resides... or the potential to resuscitate it seems feasable. Maybe I don't have new clothes, but I take a shower and brush my teeth everyday. Not a bad mantra.
